RainDrop
Commission Private Collection Scottsdale, Arizona steel 92" x 72" x 72" created 2009 Working with the amazing sustainable, edible landscaping firm Life's A Garden, Kevin created this functional sculpture that carries rainwater from a series of roof gutters, over a patio walkway, and into the first of a series of retention ponds in the front yard of a north Scottsdale, Arizona, home. The first photo shows RainDrop from the patio near the front door. As you can see, RainDrop goes from the gutter, through the tree and down toward the ground, creating a series of waterfalls. The second photo shows RainDrop from the front of the house. The largest waterfall of all falls from the final trough, one that is visible from the house itself and which should offer a nice waterfall sound. The third photo shows RainDrop from the last trough back toward its first one. To see an early test in the studio, check out the first video, which reveals there was still a bit of work to be done. The second video shows RainDrop after final installation, running with the help of a hose.
