To Kevin, function does not need to be separated from art.

That acceptance is well illustrated by Tenacity, an 11-panel steel railing that surrounds a patio. Each of the panels is handmade, and one of them is a gate, which is held in place by magnets (shhhh! don't tell the dog!). In addition to the beauty of the fence itself, it throws terrific shadows (see below) as the sun moves across the sky.

Created over several months, Tenacity gave Kevin many opportunities to see the materials, space and project requirements in different lights. He used a variety of tools to create the piece, including a forge.
