Kevin drilled holes in the base for the branches. Each branch will slip through the hole so it can be welded top and bottom for strength.
The "T" to the left will help Kevin replace the base in the top of the trunk accurately.
While he could have just used a steel plate, the base had a previous life as a farmer's harrow disk.
