LET'S PLAY!

Put these "play dates" on your calendar: Thursday, October 16 and Saturday, October 18. That's when we'll see you at Kevin's one-man show
"Kid at Heart."

Kevin will be showing some of his beautiful new designs in the show, including - if all goes as planned - Loaded, as well as a couple of new windchimes.

You can see them - including Loaded's new coat! - on the In the Works page by clicking here.

Keep up with Kevin - enter your email address here to receive his newsletter:

This year's show will be held at Pearson & Company, 7022 E. Main Street in Scottsdale, in the heart of the art district, on Thursday, October 16 from 7 - 9 p.m. during ArtWalk, and - a first - Saturday, October 18, from 10 - 3 p.m.

Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development
The theme is "Kid at Heart," which is entirely understandable when you look at some of Kevin's pieces, and if you know him. He is just that: a big kid, and his work shows his joy.

Too, this year's charitable recipient is the wonderful organization Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development, which helps homeless youth (it is not associated with Tumbleweed Recreation Center).

Some of the youths will be showing their work as well as joining us for this free event. So mark your calendar today - if you've been to other shows, you know we're going to be having fun like kids in a candy store. See you there!

PASADENA SHOW 'ART FROM THE ASHES' OPENS NOVEMBER 1

In addition to "Kid at Heart," Kevin is participating in a wonderful show in Pasadena, California, November 1 - 15 called "Art From the Ashes." He'll be there in person for the opening November 1.

Kevin shows "Art From the Ashes" materials
Using materials salvaged from a fire that destroyed a warehouse of Cisco Brothers, a California furniture company, artists from throughout the United States are creating works of art that will be auctioned off for the benefit of META ("Making Education the Answer").

"This is a great project from so many perspectives," Kevin says, "and especially for a Phoenix artist who works with fire." To see a video of Kevin with some of the pieces he'll be working with click here.

You can also get a sneak peek at his piece for the show, which is called Ascension, on the In the Works page, and learn more about the show on the Media page.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, we look forward to seeing you in person at the opening on November 1!

ART ON BOSTON SHOW 'LIFE' CONTINUES THROUGH OCTOBER 26

If you live in the East Valley of the metro Phoenix area, don't forget that Art on Boston Gallery's show "Life," which includes some of Kevin's work, continues through October 26.

For more information about the "Life" show, which also features the work of watercolorist Vikki Reed, photographer George Lenz, fine jeweler Cindy Conners and 18 other in-studio and coop artists, visit Art on Boston's site at ArtonBoston.com or call 480-917-1112 for hours and special events.

CHANDLER SELECTS DESIGN FOR TUMBLEWEED

After considering three of Kevin's designs for the inside entrance of the Tumbleweed Recreation Center, the Chandler Arts Commission has officially selected its choice.

According to the committee, which selected the design, the Tumbleweed staff loved The Seed, an elegant design inspired by the history and development of Chandler. "Without water, Chandler would never have become an agricultural center, nor the city it is in 2008," Kevin observes. Today, Chandler is home to a quarter million people.

The Seed, which will sit just inside the entrance of the new $12.6 million recreation center, was inspired by the canals that brought precious water to Chandler and the alfalfa that accounted for its early success as an agricultural center.

The Seed will stand 14 feet tall and be visible from the main lobby as well as the center's inside running track and outside, as people approach the center.

"I very much appreciate the vision and enthusiasm of the Chandler Arts Commission and the Tumbleweed Recreation Center staff," Kevin says.

Following approval of the city council, Kevin will begin constructing the piece.

This site, his newsletter MUSeINGS and videos on YouTube's Channel Kevin are all wonderful ways to watch the progress on this piece.

FINALLY AT HOME

BackFlip, a sculpture by Kevin Caron
BackFlip
Beautiful BackFlip has taken his place in front of a 12,000 square foot home on Camelback Mountain. Check him out, in situ.

You can also enjoy the first pictures of Three Suns, a stainless steel sculpture that has taken up residence inside the same beautiful Camelback Canyon home that BackFlip fronts. See Three Suns on his curved shelf by clicking here.

BackFlip and Three Suns aren't the only pieces to find their homes, however. Guppy and Brontosoar are now living in the back yard of a lovely Scottsdale resident. We're so glad they have each other, but most important glad they have their new owner!
