Mobius, A Sculpture by Kevin Caron
MÖBIUS

Collection of Orme and Elizabeth Lewis
Paradise Valley, Arizona

Cor-ten steel
39" x 22" x 20"
37.5 pounds
2008

Coaxing the steel to alternately twist and shrink, Kevin brought forth Möbius.

Perched on its stand, this sculpture moves lightly in the wind, turning its face to the mountains beyond.

The piece is named for August Ferdinand Möbius, a German mathematician and theoretical astronomer who is best known for his discovery of the Möbius strip, a deceiptively simple two-dimensional surface with only one side and one edge.
