"Kevin's work is always inspiring to me, as a fellow sculptor. I admire Kevin's attention to detail and the imagination that flows through his works. I've become a Kevin Caron groupie. I can't get enough, and I can't wait to see his next design."

Powder Coating a Steel Sculpture

The Voice: Hey, Kevin. What are you doing?

Kevin Caron: We?re down at the powder coater today doing some finish work on a piece of contemporary art. This steel sculpture is called Backflip. This is the one that I've been working on for the house up on the side of the mountain, and it's down here to get re-sandblasted.

There were a few little boo-boos that I needed to fix on it before going inside to the powder coater, where it will get its coat of red paint. Then we'll transport it to its new home out there on the side of the hill.

We'll get a good shot of it then, and put the photo on the Net for all you guys to see.

Check out Backflip. This is what I've been working on for the past several weeks in my studio, doing a lot of work with the slip roller, then more shaping with the English wheel, and lots of TIG welding.

There will be a base underneath it. It's going to end up standing about 10 feet high, up inside a planter. When the installation is complete, it will be a very impressive piece of metal art.

Well, let me take Backflip inside and I'll see you all next week. Bye!
