TIG Welding (GTAW)
Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, which is also known as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, uses a tungsten electrode ("rod") that is protected from contamination by a shield gas (often argon) and, usually, a filler metal.
TIG is popular for welding thin sheets of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, magnesium and copper.
Although it can be difficult to master, TIG welding ultimately gives the operator greater control and therefore can lead to stronger, higher quality welds. It is also quieter and cleaner than MIG welding.
Kevin uses a Miller Synchrowave 200 ("Tigger")in his studio.
